U-Turn Fundraiser
U-Turn is a local charity, set up in 2004, offering innovative support, information and practical intervention to women coerced into prostitution. A Centre for vulnerable women is now in place in Tower Hamlets (the first of its kind in the country) to address health, social and housing needs as well as suggest pragmatic routes out of their cycles of abuse and poverty.
A fundraising party is taking place on Saturday 8th December at 7.30pm at St Barnabas Church (on the corner of Roman and Grove Roads). There will be a buffet, live music, DJ and raffle, with prizes including dinner for two at Baltic, dinner for two at Brian Turner's restaurant, Jean Paul Gaultier scent, tickets to the Sanctuary, a wormery (!), and much, much more.
Tickets cost £5 and all proceeds go directly to U-Turn. Guests are welcome to bring a bottle and it would be great if guests could also bring a wrapped present, suitable for a woman, to go under the tree at the Centre.
Call 07834 714 765 for more details. Visit U-Turn's site to check on the work they do locally at www.uturnproject.co.uk
