Holocaust Memorial Day
You may possibly be aware that this year's Holocaust Memorial Day, 27th January, is on a Sunday.
This might be an ideal opportunity for the wider church, rather than individuals within it, to commemorate it together.
This year we are being invited to
“remember the events of the past,
reflect on the present,
and react to create a better future.”
The Geoff Ashcroft Community has suggested praying together is one very good way and so they have forwarded a prayer (including a short simple version which could be used for all ages as well). Click here to view.
More details around the Holocaust Memorial Day are attached here to help you in your reflections.
It is hoped that churches will feel moved to participate in this event in whatever capacity they feel to be appropriate, whether individually or in conjunction with others. (Eleos Church in Tower Hamlets will be holding its own commemoration at St Peter's Church Hall, Warner Place , E2 from 3.00pm on the 27th, to which all are invited.)
If your congregation would like to respond by giving financially we have a contact in Israel (Comfort to Zion) where the money could be sent directly to those in need.

Quiet Day at St Katharine's
With Lent beginning in under a month, St Katharine's is hosting a timely Quiet Day on 2nd February - asking how we find a prayerful and faithful rhythm of life in the 21st century. Benedict for Today will draw on the wisdom the founder of western monasticism, and participants will be guided one of the leading teachers in the field,
Fr Dermot Tredget of Douai Abbey.

While we're still in festive mode, come and enjoy the tradition of excellent Music at St Katharine's with a concert in our beautiful chapel. It is at 8pm on 25th January, and includes pieces by Schumann and Vaughan Williams.
